At Goole Academy, we believe that careers education is not the responsibility of one person or one department — it is the responsibility of the whole academy community. Every interaction with a student is an opportunity to develop aspirations, challenge stereotypes, highlight future possibilities and help young people understand how their learning connects to the world beyond school.
Our CEIAG programme is designed to ensure that all students receive high-quality careers education, meaningful encounters with employers and providers, and access to impartial information, advice and guidance. Through our commitment to the Gatsby Benchmarks and the Equalex Work Experience Guarantee, we aim to provide every student with the knowledge, skills and experiences they need to make informed decisions about their future pathways.
As a member of staff at Goole Academy you will;
- Embed careers within your curriculum areas (Lessons, displays, discussions, visits, employer encounters)
- Gain access to the UNFROG platform to allow sharing of up-to-date and reliable information. Click here to access your account Sign In – Unifrog
- Support on careers drop down days/visits
- Deliver lessons that create awe and inspire our pupils to think about careers in your subject area.
- Receive CPD around whole school personal development initiatives
So how can you support CEIAG as a staff member at Goole Academy?
- Make careers visible in your working area. (A small poster or display is enough to spark a student’s interest in the subject you are passionate about).
- Identify opportunities and connections – Share any contacts you have of who may wish to work with us and inform them of our employer’s section on the website. Provide careers focussed visits within your department.
- Support student conversations – Use your access to Unifrog to help support conversations regarding post-16 options and guide students to our careers advisor (Gill Fox) who is located in the student reception
