British Values at Goole Academy
Preparing Students for Life in Modern Britain
At Goole Academy, we believe that education should prepare young people not only for examinations, but for life in modern Britain. The promotion of Fundamental British Values is embedded throughout our curriculum, our wider Personal Development programme and the everyday experiences of academy life. Rather than teaching British Values in isolation, we believe every subject and every experience has a double duty to develop knowledge and skills whilst also helping students become respectful, responsible and active citizens. This means students encounter British Values every day; in lessons, through enrichment, student leadership, assemblies, tutor programme, careers education and the wider culture of the academy.

What Are the Fundamental British Values?
At Goole Academy, British Values are not just taught – they are experienced through the opportunities, routines and culture of academy life.

British Values Through Everything We Do
Our Curriculum
Every curriculum area contributes to the development of British Values. Students not only develop subject knowledge but also explore ethical questions, different perspectives, diversity, responsibility and the role they play within society. This ‘Double Duty’ ensures that every curriculum increases both academic understanding and personal development.

Everything we do helps students become:

Our Commitment
British Values are not an additional programme or standalone topic. They are woven through the fabric of Goole Academy and reflected in our curriculum, our culture and our relationships. By combining academic excellence with character development we prepare students to thrive in modern Britain and contribute positively to society.
